Governor Schwarzenegger Terminating California State Parks
For the second time in as many years, Governor Schwarzenegger has threatened to close California State Parks to achieve an annual savings
of $150 million.
That sounds like a lot of money, but consider that Wells Fargo, a California bank, received 25 billion taxpayer dollars to rescue it from
bad business practices. $25 billion would fund California State Parks for over a hundred and fifty years at the current level of $150 million annually.
Factor in inflation, round off, and call it a century.
The people of California dodged the first bullet, but even if we dodge the second, we must find a way to protect our parks from our politicians.
