Built 1856

The architectural style of this building is Greek Revival, the preferred style for churches and schoohouses built during the California Gold Rush.

A plaque in front of the building reads:

North San Juan United Methodist Church
1856

One of the oldest of this faith in continuous operation in California. Escaped three major fires which destroyed the town. The Rev. H. B. Sheldon first assigned Pastor. Rode circuit from Brandy City to French Corral on horseback.
