Historic 1930's Main Street in Watsonville, California
Main Street in the 1930's
(Click Photo to Enlarge It)

This vintage postcard from the 1930's shows the east side of the 300 block of Main Street. Near the center of the photograph are palm tress in Watsonville City Plaza and beyond the palms stands the Lettunich Building.

The west side of the 300 block was heavily damaged by the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. Most of the buildings were either destroyed by the earthquake or razed because of structural damage. Among the buildings lost were the Stoesser Block and Annex.

The Fox Theater was damaged by the earthquake. It was repaired with some modifications including relocation of the entrance from Main Street to Maple Street around the corner.
