Rupert Schmid created this bronze and granite memorial to Ulysses Simpson Grant, Union General and 18th President of the United States. The monument is located on the south side of Museum Drive. The photograph also shows the Francis Scott Key Monument (San Francisco Landmark 96) and the partially completed Academy of Sciences.
