From 1878 until 1916, this High Victorian Italianate house was the home of Richard Henderson Beamer, son of the early settler R. L. Beamer. The younger Mr. Beamer was President of the Farmers and Merchants Bank and held a number of elective and appointed civic posts including Yolo County Sheriff and Mayor of Woodland. A contemporay newspaper describe hims as "Woodland's chief citizen."
